The experiments needed many of these completely not cheap animals.
And the experimenter wanted to save… It was decided to use guinea pigs which had already been injected with horse whey some weeks before. The saved pigs looked absolutely healthy. Yes, that was actually the case. Detailed clinical inspection would not reveal any deviations from the norm. Therefore Smith took a syringe and confidently injected the investigated whey into one of the animals. Not even a minute had passed when the pig expressed unusual anxiety… She began to run around the cage, breathe rapidly, sit down on her hind legs, and scratch her nose with her front paws, as though trying to free herself from something hindering breathing. Actually, the guinea pig already required allergy treatment. But then nobody knew about it yet. And they also did not know about method Buteyko… The pig obviously lacked air. Half a minute later, sneezing began. Then a sharp, barking cough. The animal choked. In 2-3 minutes, death came.
What was the matter? Could it be that during the injection, air entered a vein, or a vial corked some important vessel of the brain? The experimenter took the second pig, third… The picture repeated. Shock occurred. When he took a fresh pig, not previously injected, that had not received horse whey before, the injection caused no adverse consequences. Nina Fedorovna, reading these lines, felt as if she herself was in the place of the pioneer. It turned out that the previous injection had made the animals supersensitive to the subsequent introduction of the same whey! The same…
This phenomenon, as well as the development of antibodies, is characterized by special specificity. Primary introduction of alien whey immunizes in a special way. Unlike the reaction to microbes, the organism develops not stability to repeated introduction, but a hypersensitivity!! The hypersensitivity condition has received the name анафилаксии.
